Professionalization of health promotion and health education. Efforts in Europe, on a global scale and in Poland

The publication has been prepared as a result of the work of the Task Force on education in the field of health promotion and health education of professionals and other professional groups of the Public Health Committee of the PAS, which was set up in 2017. Its aim was to present, based on the literature and various documents:

1. Tasks and competences in the profession of health education specialist in the United States;
2. Competences and professional standards in health promotion proposed in the European CompHP project;
3. Activities undertaken by the International Union for Health Promotion and Education IUHPE;
4. Activities in the fields of professionalization of health promotion and health education in Poland.

In the publication, special attention has been paid to the process of developing professional competences and to international cooperation.

The information contained in this work may be useful for activities aimed at professionalization in health promotion and health education in Poland. Additionally, it can be used in planning the undergraduate and postgraduate education of various professional groups, whose tasks also include health education and health promotion.
